My name is Richard and I live and work on a small sheep farm in the Derbyshire Dales with my partner of 15 years and 2 children, who are 9 and 11.
I have been involved in community and voluntary work since the age of 14, when I became a Young Leader in the Scouting Association and am now an Assistant Scout Leader at Ashbourne Scouts.
I have served as a member of the Air Training Corps then in the RAF regiment; at 606 Helicopter Support Squadron, at RAF Benson, for 2 years and in 2001 was commissioned as an Officer in the RAF VRT and served as training officer for 7 years.
I am the Director of Bright Lighting Solutions Ltd; a company I started in 2000 and built from scratch working as a lighting designer, manufacturer and consultant, where I gained valuable experience in the manufacturing and service industries.
I love serving others, and that is why I am standing to be your Police and Crime Commissioner. Since 2010 I have sat on Derbyshire Dales District Council, serving the people of the Derbyshire Dales and the Ward of Hulland. I am also proud to sit on the Derbyshire Police and Crime Panel, and a Lead Member for the Community Safety Partnership, Leisure and Communities, working directly to improve services for the residents in the Derbyshire Dales.
My hobbies include volunteer work within the scouting organisation, badminton, swimming, movies, watching rugby and country pursuits.
